Acknowledgement of Country

The St Pius X Parish School Community acknowledges the Gunditjmara / Marr Nation people who have educated children on these lands for thousands of years.
A Prayer for Mother's Day

Today, we honor all who mother—
those who gave birth, those who chose, those who stepped in.
We celebrate nurturers, protectors, guides, and givers—
women who show love through presence, through wisdom, through fierce tenderness.
We hold space for joy and for pain:
for those who long to be mothers,
for those who have lost children or mothers,
for strained relationships, for silent griefs.
We give thanks for women who build, who teach, who heal,
who nourish communities with strength and compassion.
May their care be returned a hundredfold.
Bless the mothers in every form—biological, adoptive, chosen, spiritual—
and all women who carry life in their hands, hearts, and hopes.
May they know rest.
May they feel seen.
May they be held in grace.
Amen.
A Note from our Principal

Ngata families,
This week I have chosen to continue with the theme of our SWPBS launch. Last week I was excited to share that our school has officially launched the new School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework! At the heart of this initiative are our three core values: Respect, Safety and Responsibility.
To promote and celebrate these values across our school, we have introduced a new Rewards and Recognition system. When students are seen demonstrating any of our core values—whether in the classroom, on the playground, or anywhere around the school—they will be recognised with a coloured token:
- Blue for Respect
- Green for Safety
- Orange for Responsibility
Each classroom has a tub for collecting these tokens and staff members also carry them in the yard to ensure students are acknowledged wherever they are. When a student receives a token, they add it to their class tub and mark it on the classroom chart.
Every fortnight, our Student Representative Council (SRC) will collect and count the tokens. These contribute to each class's overall tally, which will be proudly displayed in the school foyer. If a student receives five tokens, their name will be entered into our fortnightly prize draw and they’ll be recognised at assembly and presented with a certificate by the leadership team.
In addition, we’ve introduced a special reward called the Express Pass—a purple token awarded to students who demonstrate all three values at once in a particularly outstanding way. Express Pass recipients will have the opportunity to visit the leadership team, choose a prize from the prize box, receive a certificate and enjoy a celebratory phone call home to share their success.
We’re already seeing such positive engagement from our students and we look forward to celebrating many more moments of Respect, Safety and Responsibility throughout the year!
Kind regards,
Nick Murrell
Principal

Daily Review - What it looks like in our room!
Each morning we have been participating in our Daily Review lesson where we consolidate the learning we have been doing across the terms. Each morning there is a component of phonics, decoding and encoding and even some sight words. We are able to read sounds that we know, write the spellings for the sounds and read and write words. If we get the answer correct we can tick it but if we are unsure or make a little mistake then we get to fix it. We love the daily review as we all get to experience success as well as keep practicing. We know we are learning lots about letters, sounds and words every day! Check out some of the hard workers in Foundation this week.

Partitioning
This week in maths we have been working on partitioning numbers. We know that partitioning means breaking numbers apart into groups. We discovered that there are many different ways we can partition a number. For example, we can partition the number 5 into 2 and 3, 1 and 4, 0 and 5. We have had fun using counters and our whiteboards to show the many different ways we can partition numbers!
