Acknowledgement of Country

The St Pius X Parish School Community acknowledges the Gunditjmara / Marr Nation people who have educated children on these lands for thousands of years.
A Prayer for Pope Leo XIV
Loving God,
We thank You for our new Holy Father, Pope Leo.
Bless him with wisdom, courage, and compassion
As he leads the Church with faith and hope.
May he inspire us to live with love,
Just as Jesus taught us.
Amen.
A Note from our Principal

Ngata families,
We are excited to share that our Learn and Discover sessions and Information Night are coming up next week! These events offer a wonderful opportunity for prospective families to experience the welcoming, vibrant learning environment we offer here at SPW. Please see the flyer attached for details. We encourage you to share this with friends, family and anyone interested in becoming part of our school community.
We are now accepting enrolments for 2026, and we look forward to welcoming a new group of learners to our school.
If you have a child ready to start school in 2026 or know someone who does, please visit our enrolment page to apply: https://spwarrnambool.catholic.edu.au/enrolment. Enrolments will close on June 11th, so don’t miss this important date.
Thank you for your continued support and for helping to spread the word about the exciting things happening at St. Pius X. We are proud of our strong, connected community and can’t wait to welcome new families into it.
Kind regards,
Nick Murrell
Principal
Walk Safely to School Day - TOMORROW!

Tomorrow, Friday 16th May we are taking part in the national walk safely to school day. On this day, any students who walk, scoot, ride, skate or bus will be given a stick on tattoo as a way to promote coming to school in a healthy way. If your family lives a long way from the school, the students can be dropped off around the block and walk the rest of the way to still take part. Thank you for supporting our healthy moving community!
Hands on Learning Donut Fundraiser
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Donut orders will now be delivered next Tuesday, 20th May.
Orders will be accepted up to Monday, 19th May. Thank you for your support.

From the Farm to the Plate!
In grade 3/4, the students are learning about the journey that food takes all the way from the farm to our plate. Over the past week we have been lucky enough to visit some different locations to learn about the different stages of the journey. We visited Volcanic Produce to learn about how food is grown and harvested on the farm. We also visited the BEGA factory and learn what happens in the factory to make food products and finally we visited Koroit IGA to purchase some products so we are able to make mini pizzas back at school where the food will end its journey in our tummies! We have been very lucky and give a big thank you to everyone at BEGA, Volcanic Produce and the Koroit IGA!

Look at what’s new!!!
We were amazed to walk into our room on Monday morning and see that we had new furniture. Our tables and chairs were so different. Some are grey and others are a blend of greys. They have legs that can make them shorter or taller. We can sit beside a partner with our own chairs and they help us to learn. We have all been given a special spot in a row and our rows are trying to work together when we set up, pack up and work hard to finish our lessons.
Don’t forget if you would like to purchase one of our old tables for a desk or a table in the playroom at home, Mr Murrell is selling them for $30 through the office.

Partitioning
Over the past couple of weeks we have been excited to learn about how we can break numbers into different parts. There’s a special word that we have been using to describe what we have been doing - the word is partitioning. We have been learning how to break numbers into two and three parts. We have been using our whiteboards and counters to build, break, draw and write all different numbers. We have been amazed with how many ways we can break a number into different parts. We love learning about numbers because there’s so many ways in which we can show our thinking. Here are some of our friends who have been working hard this week. Well done to Hailey, Remie, Karvie, Joanne, Irine Theodore and Olivia!

Happy Mother’s Day!
We hope that all of our wonderful Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunts and special ladies in our lives enjoyed their special day last Sunday. We had been busy creating and making a bundle of special treats for you all to enjoy. We hope that you were able to relax and be pampered by your nearest and dearest and that you even had a chance to ‘file your nails!’.
West and Cassidy were very proud of their gifts and were very appreciative of all the things that their Mum’s do for them!
