A Prayer for Word Environment Day

Creator God,
We give thanks for the gift of your creation,
For the beauty and wonder of this world,
And for the preciousness of all living things.
We hear the cry of the Earth,
The cries of the poor and marginalised,
and the plea of our common home.
Grant us, Lord, the grace to respond to this call with compassion and action.
Amen
World Environment Day is June 5th
A Note from our Principal

Ngata families,
We are looking forward to our upcoming Learning Conversations, taking place on Tuesday 24th, Wednesday 25th, and Thursday 26th of June. These valuable conversations provide an opportunity for teachers, parents/carers and students to come together to discuss student strengths, challenges and goals.
Bookings are now open via PAM, and we encourage all families to log in and book a time as soon as possible to ensure a time that best suits your schedule.
Learning Conversations are an important part of our reporting and learning partnership. Teachers will refer to the Semester 1 School Report, along with work samples, to guide discussions. These conversations help us work together to support each child’s growth and learning journey.
This year, please note that same-day bookings will close at 11:00am. This allows our teachers time to prepare for their conversations and ensures all resources required are organised and ready in the hall. Your understanding and cooperation with this change is greatly appreciated.
In preparation for these conversations, we are also asking for family input. As part of the discussion, each family is asked to submit a “Family Goal” (a goal you have for your child) via Seesaw prior to your scheduled conversation. Keep an eye out for a notification from Mrs Dowling on Seesaw with more information.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. We look forward to seeing you at the Learning Conversations and continuing to work together to support every student’s success.
Kind regards,
Nick Murrell
Principal
Pickleball Canteen
The Parents & Friends would like to extend a big thank you to those families who pledged cash donations, have donated goods or who have made soups and/or slices for the coming weekend.
A huge thank you also to those who have volunteered their time to help serve in the canteen at some point over the next three days. We appreciate everyone's help with this initiative and we trust that it will be a wonderful fundraiser for our school.

Parent/Guardian/Carers Code of Conduct
As a DOBCEL school, we are required to have all Parents/Guardians/Carers sign a Code of Conduct as part of the Enrolment Agreement. This Code of Conduct is a guide to the expected conduct and behaviour of all Parents/Guardians/Carers while in all school environments, engaging in school-related activities or representing the school. This document has been written in the context of new enrolments, but is to be utilised for all current enrolments as well.
This afternoon a copy of this document was sent out electronically through PAM to all Parents/Guardians/Carers. Please take the time to read and acknowledge your acceptance of the terms and conditions listed. We would appreciate it if this could be completed as soon as possible. Thank You.
Morning Arrival Time / Supervision
A reminder from Mr Murrell to all families.
Morning teacher supervision begins at 8.40am, which is also when classrooms open for the day.
We have recently noticed an increasing number of students arriving at school as early as 8.10am. Please be aware that there is no active supervision available for students prior to 8.40am, and as such, we strongly encourage families to ensure children are not arriving before this time for their safety and wellbeing.
For families who require care outside of school hours, TheirCare is available from 6.30am in the mornings and operates until 6.00pm in the evenings. This service provides a safe and supervised environment for students and can be a helpful option for those needing additional support.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us provide a safe and structured start to each
School Crossing Safety Reminder.

Welcome Maria!
This week we have been very pleased and excited to welcome a new student into the Foundation Room - Maria Bohol. Maria is recently new to Warrnambool coming all the way from the Philippines and has moved to Australia with her parents, Mary Ann and Matthew. Maria has made a wonderful start to her time at St Pius X and is learning all the routines of our school. She has already made some new friends and loves playing on the playground. We know that you will join us all in welcoming Maria and her family into the St Pius X Community!!
Maps - Here, There and Everywhere!
Our Geography unit this term is teaching us all about Maps. Maps show us how to get to places or they are like a bird’s eye view of places from around the world. We have looked at lots of different maps - a map of Warrnambool, a treasure map, a map of the Werribee Zoo and even some maps of the World. We even got to draw our own treasure maps on our whiteboards!

Sounds Write - Symbol Search!
Every morning we look forward to our Sounds Write lessons. This has been a welcomed addition to our literacy block and has definitely helped us in learning our letters and sounds. We do lots of work on our whiteboards and we are so excited when we are learning a new unit of sounds. We start our lesson off reviewing something that we have already learned and we love doing this with our Symbol Search activity. We have a search person who has to find the spelling symbol for a sound on the big board while all the students search for the same symbol on their own search board. Here are some super symbol searchers in the Foundation room.

Choir News
Last Thursday our grade 3/4 choir were a wonderful addition and support for our special liturgy in Catholic Education week . Their singing and their smiles were outstanding!
