A Prayer for World Refugee Day

Loving God,

We pray for all refugees, that they may find safety, welcome, and peace.
Help us to open our hearts to those in need and be a light of compassion in our world.
May we always remember that, like Jesus, we are called to welcome the stranger.
Bless the hands and hearts of those who work for justice and peace.

Amen.

A Note from our Acting Principal

Ngata families,

It might sound a little cliché, but it has indeed been another big week at St Pius X. As we approach the end of term, there’s certainly a lot happening across the school.

A key focus for our teaching staff has been the preparation and finalisation of school reports. These written reports form the first stage of our reporting process, followed by our upcoming Learning Conversations. We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to all our teachers for their hard work in ensuring students are accurately assessed and placed at the appropriate level. These reports offer a clear and thoughtful reflection of each child’s achievements.

Reports will be available electronically via the PAM app from Friday afternoon after school. Click on  your child, go to the profile menu and click on assessment reports. If you need any help accessing them, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.

The second stage of our reporting process—the Learning Conversations—will take place next week. Here's a quick guide:

  • Bookings are now open and will close at 11am on the day of the interviews. They will reopen at 5:30pm for bookings for the following day.

  • Students are expected to attend.

  • These conversations provide a valuable opportunity to celebrate progress and set goals for the next semester.

We’re really looking forward to catching up with you all next week during the Learning Conversations.

Enjoy the sunshine!

Kind regards,

Stacey Atkins,

Acting Principal

2026 Enrolments

Do you know someone looking for a great school in 2026? Word of mouth is the best way to let people know about our wonderful school. Please encourage anyone who might be interested to contact the school for a private tour.

Learning Conversations - Bookings Open

We are looking forward to our upcoming Learning Conversations, taking place on Tuesday 24th, Wednesday 25th, and Thursday 26th of June. These valuable conversations provide an opportunity for teachers, parents/carers and students to come together to discuss student strengths, challenges and goals.

Bookings are now open via PAM, and we encourage all families to log in and book a time as soon as possible to ensure a time that best suits your schedule.

Learning Conversations are an important part of our reporting and learning partnership. Teachers will refer to the Semester 1 School Report, along with work samples, to guide discussions. These conversations help us work together to support each child’s growth and learning journey.

This year, please note that same-day bookings will close at 11:00am. This allows our teachers time to prepare for their conversations and ensures all resources required are organised and ready in the hall. Your understanding and cooperation with this change is greatly appreciated.

In preparation for these conversations, we are also asking for family input. As part of the discussion, each family is asked to submit a “Family Goal”  (a goal you have for your child) via Seesaw prior to your scheduled conversation. Keep an eye out for a notification from Mrs Dowling on Seesaw with more information.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. We look forward to seeing you at the Learning Conversations and continuing to work together to support every student’s success.

Justice Award Winners

Each term we acknowledge students who live out our school vision, which is

"We are a learning community in the Catholic tradition, inspired by the love, justice and compassion of Jesus."

The Justice Award honours a student who demonstrates fairness, compassion, and a strong sense of right and wrong.

These students consistently stand up for others, promote kindness, and help create a just and respectful environment within our school. Their actions reflect the values of justice and compassion taught by the Catholic faith, inspiring their peers to live with integrity and treat everyone with dignity and respect.

Congratulations to the following students, we are so proud of everything you do.

Foundation: Tommy Brown

Junior Pod: Isla-May McCue

Middle Pod: Aubri Anderton

Senior Pod: Ruby Sharples.

Reminder: Parent/Guardian/Carers Code of Conduct to be signed ASAP

As a DOBCEL school, we are required to have all Parents/Guardians/Carers sign a Code of Conduct as part of the Enrolment Agreement.  This Code of Conduct is a guide to the expected conduct and behaviour of all Parents/Guardians/Carers while in all school environments, engaging in school-related activities or representing the school.   This document has been written in the context of new enrolments, but is to be utilised for all current enrolments as well.

A copy of this document was sent out electronically through PAM to all Parents/Guardians/Carers.  Please take the time to read and acknowledge your acceptance of the terms and conditions listed.

Thank you to those who have already signed their Codes of Conduct, we do however, have many families that are yet to.   We would appreciate it if this could be completed as soon as possible.

School Maps

We have been learning lots about maps, globes and compasses this week. A map shows where different places are and can be made to show us how to get somewhere or where different places are. We had to draw our own school map and we had to include JP1, the front entrance, the oval, the basketball courts and a tree. Check out our great maps on our whiteboards.

Bundles of fun, Bundling!!

We are learning how to build numbers using our bundles and sticks. A bundle is  made up of 10 sticks but they make building and counting a number quicker. We are learning to count by 10’s and then adding on our 1’s. We can then compare our quantities and order them from smallest to biggest.

Sound Swap

During the week, we get to play Sound Swap. We have to make a chain of words by changing just one spelling each time. We started to learn how to do this by using our spelling tiles but now we get to do it with our table buddy. Today our chain was -

tab-cab-cat-cot-dot-dog

Check out the way we have worked together today!!
