Acknowledgement of Country
The St Pius X Parish School Community acknowledges the Gunditjmara / Marr Nation people who have educated children on these lands for thousands of years.
Prayer
Let us pray
God of compassion, as we celebrate the life and work of Blessed Edmund Rice may we be inspired by the way he rose up and lived his faith through his words and deeds.
Help us to be people of the Gospel who live the Good News by showing compassion, kindness and understanding.
May others feel the love and peace of Jesus through our words and deeds.
We ask this through Jesus, your Son.
May 5th is the feast day of Blessed Edmund Rice, a man who valued and championed education for all.
A Note from our Principal.
Ngata Families and Friends,
Dear Families,
Thank you to everyone who shuffled their life to support our school closure day today. These days are important for the professional development of our staff and help us to keep learning, which benefits everyone in our school community.
Next week is our first full week of school for a long time. There is a lot happening, so please read the newsletter carefully. Thank you to those people who have persisted with the schoolzine updates to ensure that their app is working. Please contact us if you need support with the app.
I’m looking forward to the Grade 1/2 excursion to Werribee Zoo on Thursday. Fingers crossed for some good weather!
Kind regards,
Stacey
School Closure- ReLATE
Reframing Learning and Teaching Environments (ReLATE) is a research and evidence informed model that is the overarching umbrella of all that we do at St Pius X. It supports schools to create the right environment for teaching, learning and wellbeing.
St Pius X began learning about ReLATE in 2020 and continued our professional development this Friday with a focus on feedback and disability inclusion.
A couple of years ago we made this clip to explain part of what ReLATE is. Stay tuned for more clips in the coming weeks. Do you recognise some of these younger faces?
2024 Enrolments
It is hard to believe, but our enrolment period for 2024 begins in a few weeks. We know that we have a great school here at St Pius X and we also know that it is through personal recommendations that other families find us.
We need your help. Please consider doing the following:
- Sharing our promotional video.
- Sharing information about our enrolment tours.
- Directing people to our website.
- Liking and sharing our social media posts on facebook and instagram
- Bringing someone along to our enrolment tours.
Help us to spread the word.

PnF Meeting- We need your help
Monday 8th May, 7.30pm at school.
All interested parents and friends are welcome to attend our next meeting on Monday night. During this meeting we will be looking at our fundraising efforts for this term as well as preliminary planning for the Twilight Fair in October.
This group is more important than ever as we raise funds to replace our playground. Please consider attending.
Pecten Avenue Playground Opening
On Wednesday the Student Representative Council will be representing us at the celebration of Neighbourhood House Week at the Pecten Ave Park. The Neighbourhood House are a great organisation proving connection throughout our community and we are proud to support this project.
The Arts
On Tuesday morning we welcomed Gareth, Greta, Ollie and Matt from One Day Studios to our school. These local talents were part of a team responsible for the production of a television show called Mabel and Switch.
Our students had a screening of the 15 minute pilot episode. They also got a look at some of the robot props, a glimpse of a behind the scenes documentary and an opportunity to ask questions.
Mabel and Switch covers the themes of global warming, forming and maintaining friendships, and life with technology. It was a wonderful learning opportunity and fit perfectly into our Arts focus for this semester, which is Drama.
We are extremely lucky to have so many talented people here in Warrnambool who are willing to share their creativity and inspire us. Keep an eye out for future episodes of Mabel and Switch and maybe our very own one day on the red carpet.
Parents and Friends Raffle
The PnF have secured a very generous donation from Rafferty's- so we're having a bonus raffle this term. Tickets can be bought at the office.
