Health and Wellbeing is an important focus for teaching and learning at St Pius X School. The development of the whole person – emotionally, spiritually, physically and intellectually – lies at the basis of our educational and communal philosophy. We emphasise the building of positive relationships across the school community; nurturing a strong sense of belonging, positivity and identity within our student body.
Our Green Canteen, weekly breakfast club, social education programs for children and community health initiatives encourage full engagement in the life and spirit of our school. Our outreach initiatives, family support programs and focus on student happiness are all integral facets that build the Health and Wellbeing culture at St Pius X School.
Bounceback is a whole school resiliency and wellbeing program that enables us to teach children about emotional wellbeing in themselves and others. It enables students to develop strategies for maintaining friendships and enables them to identify and act upon experiencing bullying behaviour.

Seasons For Growth is a small group program for those children who are experiencing grief or loss. This is brought about by a change in their life which is beyond their control, and may include the death of a loved one, the separation of familiy or another permanent change in their lives. The program uses the metaphor of the seasons to offer the hope that while the change or loss might always be with us, we can move to a new beginning with the help of others.

This Warrnambool City Council initiative promotes active, safe and sustainable ways to be involved with the community. We encourage children to consider getting to and from school in an active manner, for example, walking and riding. As a “Gold” school under Bicycle Victoria’s Ride2School program, we have a high level of engagement with this program and monitoring student progress. South West Credit also provides extra incentives for active students.

St. Pius X Primary School are proud to be only one of two primary schools in Warrnambool to offer a breakfast club for students. This gathering is facilitated by a dedicated group of parents, students and community volunteers who provide a relaxed, inclusive and friendly environment for students to share a healthy breakfast together. Not only do students begin their day with nutritious food, they also get the opportunity to socialise with their peers from across the school. With an average of between 80-100 students attending each week, it continues to be highly successful. Our breakfast club is proudly supported by Foodshare, South West Credit and Cambourne Clinic.
